easyEnergy launches 'easyLaden' smart charging proposition, leveraging ev.energy's platform to deliver cheaper, greener EV charging tailored to real-time market prices.
MAASTRICHT, NETHERLANDS, 15 December 2025 – easyEnergy, the Netherlands' first dynamic energy supplier for consumers, has selected ev.energy, a leading global smart electric vehicle (EV) charging software platform, to power its new smart charging proposition, easyLaden.
The partnership enables easyEnergy to offer its customers a fully automated charging experience that directly responds to volatile wholesale energy prices on the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT) and, where available, the user’s residential solar generation. This allows EV drivers to save money on their electricity bills and maximize their use of clean energy.
Charging Smarter, Saving More
The easyLaden pilot is designed for easyEnergy customers with an electric vehicle and a home charging station. By connecting their car or charger via the ev.energy app, users can set their departure time and let the smart algorithm take control.
The platform optimizes charging sessions based on a clear hierarchy:
- Readiness: Ensuring the battery is full by the user's desired departure time.
- Cost: Targeting the cheapest hours of the day, specifically avoiding high-demand weekday periods (5 p.m. – 9 p.m.).
- Renewable Energy: Charging when the grid has an abundance of solar and wind energy.
Dynamic Pricing Expertise and Innovation
The Netherlands is a global leader in EV adoption, making smart charging solutions essential for balancing the grid and integrating renewables. easyLaden leverages ev.energy’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology to intelligently schedule charging sessions based on quarter-hourly rates, delivering cost and carbon savings without sacrificing driver mobility.
The 'easyLaden' proposition is among the first in Europe to schedule EV charging using 15-minute energy market data and bill customers based on 15-minute usage intervals. This granular approach to load management offers a deeper understanding of customer charging behaviour, which in turn strengthens energy trading and imbalance positions. These insights are crucial for developing new, highly profitable, and scalable customer propositions.
