LISBON, PORTUGAL — ev.energy has been named by “World’s Best Energy Start-Up” by 10 of the world’s largest utilities, taking home a $200,000 cash prize. Ev.energy was one of 15 start-ups selected to participate in the Free Electrons 2019 accelerator, working with utilities to develop smart EV charging solutions at bootcamps in Ireland, China, Portugal and the United States.

ev.energy is the first British start-up to win Free Electrons since the programme was created three years ago. The start-up aims to make charging electric vehicles more convenient, cheaper and even more environmentally friendly. To this end, it has developed a platform that automatically optimises vehicle charging and allows drivers to reduce costs and carbon emissions through a user-friendly app.

ev.energy’s victory builds on partnerships already established with Igloo Energy, EDF Energy, Microsoft, and Rolec.
