SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA – Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) has selected ev.energy for its mobility-focused Innovation Onramp, a grant program that seeks to address key technical, market and policy barriers to achieving deep decarbonization.
Working together with SVCE, ev.energy will use greenhouse gas emission forecasts and real-time price signals to optimize EV charging in order to minimize carbon emissions while also maximizing savings for SVCE customers. The ev.energy algorithm will seek to utilize renewable energy when it is available and abundant on the California grid in order to charge SVCE customers’ vehicles. The algorithm will also obtain price signals from SVCE to charge customers’ vehicles at the lowest-priced times of the day and night, with the aim of lowering the total cost of ownership and increasing equity of access to EVs.
ev.energy will develop Apple and Android apps for SVCE customers to manage and track their EV charging at home, while ev.energy’s APIs will enable SVCE customers to telematically connect to multiple brands of vehicles and manage their charging without the need for extra hardware.
Silicon Valley Clean Energy is a not-for-profit community-owned agency serving the majority of Santa Clara County communities, acquiring clean, carbon-free electricity on behalf of more than 270,000 residential and commercial customers.
