ev.energy would like to wish you a happy, safe and green festive season. We’ve compiled a short list of tips to help you optimize your energy efficiency this year.

Charge to 100%

If you’re driving to your holiday destination, consider adjusting your max charge level to allow 100% charge. Research suggests having a max charge level of 70-90% during regular usage to preserve the lifespan of your battery, but you can adjust this feature on road trips. You can change this through the app here:

“Holiday Lock” your charger

Give yourself the gift of peace of mind. If you plan to be away from home for an extended period, let ev.energy secure your charger while you are away on holiday! Enable the new Holiday Lock feature to prevent the charger from emitting any current. Your charger will be secured and your electricity bill will thank you!

Plan your route

Holidays are for fun, not range anxiety! Consider your time of travel, the popularity of the route and how many chargers may be available at charging stations along the way. Check out Zap Map or EV Navigation to help you on your trip planning!

Keep track of your connected car charging while you’re away from home by visiting the Stats page.

Unplug and Unwind

Whether you’re spending time with loved ones or getting some much-needed solitude, make sure you make the time to unplug! Unplug home appliances and technology that is not in use to avoid ‘vampire drain.’

To avoid vampire drain on your EV, ensure that your vehicle has at least 50% of charge, turn off energy draining options (like sentry mode), and turn on energy saving mode. Turn off your climate preconditioning options and reduce your usage of the car’s app to prevent the car from waking up unnecessarily.

Spread the love

Invite your friends and loved ones that own electric vehicles to ev.energy! You’ll both get 25 points once they begin smart charging. What a great way to spread holiday cheer!
